This Is It

The trailer for Michael Jackson This Is It ' the documentary showing rehearsal footage for what would have been Michael Jackson's latest return to the stage ' was shows at the finale of the 2009 Video Music Awards. It was an incredible preview of what you, as a fan of the late King of Pop can expect to see October 28th when the movie arrives in theaters for a two week run. 'This is an adventure, a great adventure,' Jackson himself is quoted as saying during what we can assume was an interview of some kind before the tour was to begin. 'We want to take them places that they've never been before. We want to show them a time that they've never seen before.'

Now regarding what the show might have been, yes, Madonna, with her Sticky and Sweet tour made a huge splash, but the video for this tour, had it taken place looks truly remarkable, possibly the best of the best of the veteran singers. Too bad we'll never know for sure, but we can see a little something in the film - between the songs, the costumes, the special effects, the massive and incredible looking sets, the videos ' and of course, moves that only the Gloved One himself could have shown us ' director Kenny Ortega has a really tough job ahead of him figuring out what not to include in Michael Jackson This is It, since there is so much to see here which is truly incredible.

The trailer shows us a small glimpse of how involved Jackson was in the planning of his This Is It concert series as he's shown coordinating dance moves and mapping out the minutiae of bass lines.  One should also note that despite reports of Jackson's failing health in the weeks leading up to his death on June 25th, the trailer shows Jackson in peak form as he dances his way through 'Smooth Criminal' and 'Man in the Mirror.' This is definitely not the moves of a sick man and raises more questions for the fans of what actually happened to the man.

'It's all for love,' Jackson says towards the end of the trailer and we can absolutely believe it. This is a man who was loved by millions and wanted to feel loved; truly a very sad situation given the way he basically died all alone just before he was to show the world what he was actually made of. Well Michael, wherever you are, we love you and we miss you dearly. Michael Jackson: This is It premiers at the end of October, 2008.
